Gregg Amonette, Ultimate Escapes
Gregg Amonette is senior vice president of business development at Ultimate Escapes. He has 25 years experience as a corporate officer, sales executive, and marketing executive. Greg joined Ultimate Escapes in August 2006 as head of business development and is responsible for creating strategic partnerships with resort developers, hotel groups and marketing companies. He has previously served as director of marketing for SNL Financial, LC, a provider of sector-based business information, and has held various executive roles at Multex, Inc, and Micrognosis, the trading room technology division of CSK Corporation Japan. From December 1984 to December 1994 Amonette held various sales management positions at the Brokerage Services Division of Automatic Data Processing, Inc. including vice president of retail sales. Amonette received a Bachelor of Arts from Washington & Lee University.
Amy Anderson, Timbers Resorts
As director of marketing at Timbers Resorts, Amy Anderson manages the strategy and execution of all ten properties in the Timbers Resorts portfolio, most of which include high-end residence clubs and several include the development of boutique hotels with whole ownership residential offerings. Amy directs the public relations, budgeting, advertising, collateral, direct mail, e-marketing, websites, owner relationships and Timbers Collection partnerships and works in tandem with a great marketing team in Carbondale, CO. Anderson began her career with Timbers Resorts in 2001 when she was involved in the early sales and marketing administration for The Timbers Club, Timbers Resorts first residence club in Snowmass, Colorado. After a brief stint as an independent graphic designer, she returned to Timbers Resorts in 2004 as director of marketing. Anderson has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education and a Masters in Marketing and Graphic Design.
Gregg Anderson, The Registry Collection
As global vice president, Gregg is the overall company lead and responsible executive for The Registry Collection brand, an elite exchange program linking more than 135 luxury shared vacation ownership resorts, representing over 175 developments worldwide. He provides strategic direction to a group of product managers in seven regional offices. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and is one of a handful of authorities on the subject of luxury shared vacation ownership and the concept of reciprocal use programs for this niche segment. Before joining Wyndham Exchange and Rentals, the parent company of The Registry Collection, his career included positions as vice president of acquisitions for Intrawest, senior vice president of sales and marketing for ClubCorp Resorts; and various positions in brand management with The Walt Disney Company in the United States and Japan. Gregg holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University in the United States and attended graduate school in Florence, Italy. He lives with his wife and two teenage sons in Florida. In his spare time he is involved as an executive with The Boy Scouts of America.
Dan Bachrach, Foley & Lardner LLP
Dan is a partner with Foley & Lardner LLP and is a member of the Real Estate Practice and the Hospitality, Resort & Golf Industry Team. His practice focuses on the condominium, resort and hospitality industry, including residential, commercial and mixed-use condominiums, timeshare, private residence clubs, fractional projects and travel packages. Dan's experience includes structuring and development of condominiums, cooperatives, and vacation ownership projects, as well as preparation of legal and registration documents for such projects. He has worked with and advised many of the significant and globally recognized developers and management companies in the vacation ownership industry. Dan Bachrach has also assisted clients in complying with multijurisdictional regulations.
Chad Barker, Barker & Associates
Chad is co-founder and vice-president of Barker & Associates, a company which specializes in providing QA consulting for the resort industry. In addition to managing the firm’s operations, he oversees the company’s legal department. Chad graduated from the Lewis & Clark School of Law and is a member of the Oregon State Bar. Prior to launching Barker & Associates, he worked in the Civil Recovery Division of the Oregon Department of Justice. After graduating from the University of Oregon in 2003, Chad worked for Ragatz Associates, the industry’s leading real estate market research firm. Chad became an active member of ARDA in 2008.
Piers Brown, Fractional Life
Piers has been part of the fractional ownership marketplace for nine years, since initially being an avid fractional consumer / owner to ultimately founding FractionalLife.com in December 2006. This followed his MBA, completing his thesis on ‘fractional ownership’. Previously Sales and Marketing director of one of the most successful fractional car clubs, he has also held senior positions in the national media and retail industries. He’s a qualified member of the Institute of Direct Marketing and Institute of Sales and Marketing Management and sits on the board of the newly formed Fractional and Shared Ownership Trade Association. Piers’ responsibilities include spearheading the on and offline growth of the Fractional Life brand and raising general awareness of the fractional ownership concept. He speaks on the subject at conferences around the world and has made numerous radio and television appearances.
Randy Burgess, Peter Kempf International
Randy is the PRC industry's most experienced sales executive, having trained sales teams generating $600 million+ in sales. As Peter Kempf International’s EVP, he consults on Club feasibility, structure and sales throughout North America, Mexico and Europe. Experience includes: The Austria Haus Club, Vail, Colorado - first PRC integrated with a luxury hotel; Deer Valley Club, Park City, Utah - prototype for today's PRC industry and Ships Watch, Duck, North Carolina, one of the first purpose-built high-end fractionals, recognized nationally in 1991 as "America's Most Successful Fractional Ownership Development.” He holds a BS degree in marketing from The McIntire School of Commerce (ranked #1 by Business Week among undergraduate business schools), University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia.
Lynn Cadwalader, Holland & Knight
Lynn is a partner in the San Francisco office of Holland & Knight, and co-chair of the firm's Global Hospitality Resort and Timeshare Group. She is admitted to the bar in both California and Colorado, and maintains an active practice in the US, as well as in Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia. Lyn represents developers, hospitality brands and operators in all facets of resort and real estate development and operations, and has developed a specialized practice in the areas of resort and mixed-use development, timeshare, fractional and private residence club development. This work frequently involves a hospitality brand and includes negotiating the hotel operating agreement, residential management agreements, sales and marketing license agreements and related documents, drafting and structuring the CC&Rs which establish and govern the resort community, and representing the developers and operators of various projects located within the resort.
Nick Copley, SherpaReport
Nick founded SherpaReport in 2006 to help educate affluent consumers about destination clubs, private residences clubs and luxury shared property. The site provides news, analysis, guides and directories to help them make informed decisions. Prior to this Nick built, managed or co-founded several successful online companies. He co-founded Bitpipe, a ground breaking online marketing and lead generation company serving the IT industry. He ran marketing for an online retailer, helping it to grow and be acquired by a major internet company. In the early part of his career he led financial activities for parts of Thomson Reuters and Paramount/Universal Studios. He is a UK chartered accountant and Oxford University graduate.
Dan Debenham, LENZ-works Productions
Dan has been working in the television and production industry for 20 years as an anchor, reporter, writer and producer, including eight years with ESPN, the worldwide leader in sports broadcasting. While at ESPN he helped create a number of original shows including the X-Games. Recipient of the Sports Foundations Network Journalism award, Dan has also been nominated three times for Cable Ace awards. In 2000 Dan joined Tom Zdunich to create LENZ-works, a creative service, online marketing and video production company. Over the years Dan has combined his experience and contacts to create and produce several originals shows and campaigns including, Endless Vacations, New Ways to Play, Hometeam, Music for Money, Behind the Ink and RCI TV. As a timeshare owner for the past 26 years, he remains passionate about creating and distributing content that tells the story of timeshare in a more dynamic and compelling way.
David Disick, David M. Disick & Associates
David has been in the industry since 1992. His pioneering development, Franz Klammer Lodge in Telluride, Colorado was the property that first coined and used the term "Private Residence Club". David was recently named by Fractional Life to its list of "The Top 21 Fractional Real Estate Professionals of 2010. Prior to entering the industry, David was a partner in the New York office of the national law firm, Davis & Cox. The firm's clients included Howard Hughes and the English Rothschilds, which were among the clients he personally served. David and his firm specialize in two major areas. The first is financing, where the team structures, sources, negotiates and generates developer financing and financing for fractional buyers. The second is marketing and sales, with specialized and practical initiatives responsive to the current economic and psychological climate, designed to increase sales velocity and pricing. These will serve as the basis for a Book to be published shortly. David is an active coach to the Fractional Industry.
Michelle DuChamp, Interval International
Michelle is assistant vice president sales, business development at Interval International. In this role, she oversees Preferred Residences™, the branded membership and exchange program created by Interval and Preferred Hotel Group, serving as a liaison between the companies and managing business development. She also directs the promotion and sale of client products and services, such as Interval Resort and Financial Services (IRFS) and third-party relationships. DuChamp joined Interval International in 1998 and has held positions of increasing responsibility. She was promoted to director in 2001, where she managed three of Interval’s five Eastern region territories: Eastern Canada, Northeast/Midwest, and Southeast United States. Prior to that, she was an underwriter in Heller Financial, Inc.’s vacation ownership group. She has been an active participant in the American Resort Development Association for the past decade and has served as a speaker on several of its roundtables. She is a Registered Resort Professional (RRP), the industry’s highest individual designation.
Peter Gust, LaTour Hotels and Resorts
Peter is vice president of resort operations and rental sales for LaTour Hotels and Resorts. He has created the operating standards, quality assurance programs, and training and development for LaTour Hotels and Resorts’ on-property service delivery and rental program. Through his involvement and leadership the company has grown from two resorts to over 15 currently managed today. Peter is an accomplished leader who holds a Master’s in Finance and Administration from University of Redlands, Whitehead College and an accounting degree from California State University, Fullerton. Previously, Peter was director of finance for RCIM, the timeshare industry’s leading management organization.
Bill Guthrie, Foley & Lardner LLP
Bill is a partner with Foley & Lardner LLP and is a member of the Real Estate Practice and the Hospitality, Resort & Golf Industry Team. His practice focuses on the condominium, resort and hospitality industries. Bill’s extensive experience includes structuring and development of planned unit developments, condominiums, vacation ownership projects, fractional projects, and clubs for many major brand participants in the industry. He has also been actively involved in the creation of multiple mixed-use development projects relating to a variety of components, including retail, hotel, office condominium, residential condominium, timeshare, fractional, membership club, golf and other amenities. Bill advises and works closely with globally recognized developers, lenders, managers and exchange services groups.
Elaine Joli is an independent management consultant, providing marketing, sales and product development consultation for developers of mixed use, fractional, private residence club and planned communities. She has worked with top developers in Canada and the US for the past 17 years, including one of the largest ski resort developers in North America. Elaine directed the marketing and sales strategies for the first phase of largest master planned community in the United States, (93,000 acres developed by Kennecott Land) and has worked on residential, private residence club and fractional projects in Utah, Colorado, Arkansas, Nevada, and British Columbia. She is currently working on a 10,000 acre master planned community development in South Central Vietnam. Elaine was a speaker and moderator at the 2010 ARDA Conference in Las Vegas and is author of “Vacation Nation: The Complete Guide to Timeshare, Private Residence Clubs, Fractionals and Destination Clubs,” the first book published on the shared ownership/use industry.
Peter Kempf, Peter Kempf International
Peter is founder and CEO of Peter Kempf International (PKI), which has offices in London, Florence, San Francisco and New York; and provides a full range of services to developers of luxury private residence Clubs. The company is a member of the Luxury Society and the exclusive global representative for the fractional industry for The Board of Regents, the world’s pre-eminent network of luxury brokers. PKI’s team members have provided services since the beginning of the PRC industry to some of the most legendary PRC’s ever ceased and is the only truly global full service provider with a history of luxury PRC’s in Europe, USA, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Peter is one of the most experienced individuals in the luxury international real estate market. Before founding PKI he served as vice president and Midwest regional director for Sotheby’s International Real Estate, director of international real estate for Christie’s Great Estates and CEO-Europe for DCP International.
Dan Lubner, Robb & Stucky
As president of Robb & Stucky Resorts division, Dan directs interior design and purchasing-related services to hospitality, timeshare and fractional ownership properties as well as other commercial clients in North America and international locations. Under his guidance, Robb & Stucky has completed furnishing packages for dozens of projects in Latin America and the Caribbean. Dan previously served as vice president of marketing and business development. He has been an influential component in developing the model merchandising program at Robb & Stucky. In his role in corporate marketing, Dan has expanded the model merchandising program, continuing his relationship with the country’s leading builders and developers, and oversees all marketing and business development efforts at the company’s 15 locations nationwide.
Keith Marlow, Timbers Resorts
Keith has been with Timbers Resorts since its inception in 1999 and is the director of sales, managing all aspects of real estate sales within a well known portfolio of private luxury resorts. Most include high-end residence clubs and several include the development of a boutique hotel with whole ownership residential offerings. Timbers Resorts’ properties include Esperanza Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; The Timbers Club at Snowmass in Colorado, The Rocks Luxury Residence Club in Scottsdale, Arizona; and Castello di Casole in Tuscany, Italy. Keith began his career in commercial appraisal before moving to Aspen, Colorado and working in real estate brokerage. Keith is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in finance. He, his wife and two children reside in Carbondale, Colorado.
Jim Marmorstone, Tenstar Development Group
Jim Marmorstone is president of Tenstar Development Group, which serves as a principal or participant in launching four to five new residential, shared ownership, or mixed-use developments each quarter. In 2010, the company is managing sales and marketing for developments that are converting condominium hotel or whole ownership inventory to shared ownership use. Jim has over twenty-nine years of experience in the areas of land, timeshare, vacation club, fractional, hotel, vacation home, residential and campground development. In 1990, he formed Tenstar Corporation which designed, implemented and/or managed point-based vacation clubs. In 1995, he sold the business to Interval International. Transferring with the business, Jim served as senior vice president of international at Interval International from 1995 to 2000. Subsequently, he formed Tenstar Development Group and co-founded the Fairmont Residential Development Division and Fairmont Heritage Place for Fairmont Raffles Hotels International.
Tim McLaughlin, RCI
A 25 year veteran of the vacation ownership industry, Tim started his career in 1982 at the Indianapolis headquarters of RCI where he held various positions from Owner Services, Resort Services and Rental Services. He left RCI in 1990 and moved to Orlando where he spent ten years with what would become one of the largest private timeshare development companies in the world, heading up the new product development team, owner/exchange services and rental programs. In 2000 Tim left to become president of Orlando.com and got in on the internet travel business from the ground up. After growing revenues three fold in his two years with the company, they sold out to Expedia/Hotels.com and returned to his roots in the vacation ownership industry.
Paulo Mira, PHD Mobi
Paulo graduated in Business Administration, with a Marketing degree from University of California - Berkeley. He started his career at Nestlé, and has held positions at The Walt Disney Co., Sony and MTV. He started his own consulting company and has designed marketing projects for several international companies. After creating a very successful b2b internet portal that is used in many countries around the world, he was invited to be the head of marketing for Folha Group, one of the largest media groups in Latin America. He was then invited to be the marketing and strategy director for the Miami Herald Media Co. in USA, and has designed the company’s long term multi-media strategy. Today, he is president and CEO of PHD Mobi, the leading digital agency developing mobile strategy and projects for companies around the globe. Paulo has taught at the top MBA program in Latin America, and also at the Miami Advertising School.
Byrne Murphy, Kitebrook Partners
Byrne has 25 years' experience in international property development and investment management, and has twice grown start-up development companies into platforms with over $1 billion of assets under management. He currently manages several private equity ventures in Europe. These include a data centre operation in Scandinavia, as well as Palazzo Tornabuoni: a $200 million re-development of a 15th century Medici palazzo in Florence, Italy, which features a private residence club. Palazzo Tornabuoni is managed by Four Seasons. Byrne was co-founder and deputy chief executive of BAA-McArthurGlen, the company responsible for first importing the designer outlet concept to Europe. He graduated Cum Laude from Harvard in 1981 and received his MBA from University of Virginia. Byrne authored Le Deal, an award-winning book published by St. Martin’s Press in August, 2008.
Paul Nabor, FractionalExchange.com
Involved in the fractional exchange industry since 2004, Paul Nabor was instrumental in the development and support of the exchange network for World’s Finest Resorts, later sold and rebranded by RCI. Paul has extensive luxury, real estate and travel experience, including World’s Finest Resorts, The Registry Collection, The Yellowstone Club, La Costa Resort & Spa and the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa. Paul is currently Director of Sales and responsible for resort, network and homeowner association affiliations at FractionalExchange.com.
Steven D. Peterson, Ballard Spahr
Steven is a partner in the real estate department and co-partner-in-charge of the resort and hotel group at legal firm Ballard Spahr. He is also a member of the planned communities and condominiums group, real estate development group, and the zoning and land use group. For more than 30 years, he has concentrated his practice in a broad spectrum of resort and hospitality law, including resort development, timesharing, fractionals, private residence club and destination club creation and operation, condominiums, resort finance, resort-related commercial real estate transactions, planned community development, community associations, ski resorts, golf course development, and zoning. Steven is an ARDA Trustee and the current co-chair of ARDA’s Fractional and Private Residence Club Forum.
Kathryn Plouff, Plouff Consulting
Kathryn is a financial consultant to the shared ownership industry. With her accounting background and experience, she brings a unique business perspective to her current role. She spent more than four years with Starwood Vacation Ownership and over 15 years with Heller Financial, the last seven years exclusively in the Vacation Ownership Group providing complex financial transactions. Prior to joining Heller, she was controller for Trammell Crow Residential. Kathryn has been a speaker at many industry related seminars. She has also authored several articles on finance and accounting related topics.
Leah Powell, Trade to Travel
Leah is the president of Trade to Travel (TTT), the club for owners of fine properties worldwide which arranges for members to enjoy vacation homes, yachts, villas, chalets, castles, estates, hotels, spas,penthouses and private islands at 80% savings. She managed TTT's first offices in 1991 and has worked for nearly two decades to create an unparalleled consortium of leisure assets. The first destination club, Private Retreats, partnered with TTT so that their members could enjoy TTT members' properties and vice versa. Today she partners with preeminent real estate and rental companies, fractional properties, private residence clubs, and destination clubs.
Sarah Rezak, Rezak Resort Consulting and LaTour Hotels & Resorts
Sarah Rezak is founder of Rezak Resort Consulting, an international resort consulting and market research firm. She has conducted over 400 consulting assignments for resort developments in most U.S. states and 24 countries. Sarah is also business development director for LaTour Hotels and Resorts. She began her career at Ragatz Associates in 1997, beginning their annual intensive study of the fractional interest and destination club industries and the creation of the firm’s annual Fractional Interest Conference. Leaving in 2004, Sarah continued consulting while pursuing a MBA. In 2006, she became a full-time consultant to Intrawest, as MD of Storied Places. In 2008, she transitioned Storied Places’ property management to Fairmont Heritage Place, managing all aspects of the transition.
Scott Ritter, Dahlgren Duck & Associates
Scott currently serves as the vice president of the residential division of Dahlgren Duck & Associates of Dallas, Texas. He is responsible for the overall success of the Division including sales & marketing, administration, and warehouse operations. Because of his knowledge and reputation in the industry, he often speaks at industry functions, on various sales and operations models of the shared ownership market, both domestic and international. Dahlgren Duck, founded in 1983, is a special markets company, representing over 400 of the most significant high end manufacturers of luxury household goods: china, crystal, silverware, linens, house wares, and more. It is now the leading supplier of luxury OS&E goods for destination clubs, fractional resorts and private residence clubs. In addition, they now partner with the majority of the top developers providing product research, product procurement, warehousing, domestic and international freight forwarding and customs clearance.
Mark Roberge, HubSpot
Mark is VP Sales at HubSpot, an internet marketing software company based in Cambridge, MA. He oversees HubSpot's entire sales function, having grown the department to over 50 reps and 2,700 customers in just over three years. Prior to HubSpot, Mark founded and held executive positions in startups in the social media and mobile sectors. Mark started his career as a technology consultant with Accenture. He holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management where he was a semi-finalist in the 2005 MIT $50K Business Plan competition and was awarded the Patrick McGovern award for his contributions to entrepreneurship at MIT. He holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University. Mark has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, TechCrunch, and other major publications for his entrepreneurial ventures. Mark is a regular speaker at MIT and various industry conferences on the topics of inbound marketing and sales 2.0.
Wayne Sobien, First American Title Insurance
Wayne currently serves as division vice president for First American Title Insurance.He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida and has practiced law in Florida for over 27 years. Wayne is a member of the Executive Council of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar, Chair of the Problem Study Committee and a member of the Condominium Law and Title Insurance Committees of the section. He is also a trustee member of ARDA. He has been working in the vacation ownership field for 10 years and has authored numerous educational articles and materials on subjects relating to real estate and title insurance.
Lance Thompson, Timbers Resorts
Lance joined Timbers Resorts in February of 2009 as director of resort operations. Thompson comes from The PlumpJack Group where he served as the vice president of operations with oversight of PlumpJack’s resort products, project development and restaurant ventures. Lance also spent seven years with Auberge Resorts in several capacities, serving on the opening team for The Lodge at CordeValle, Calistoga Ranch, and the Inn at Palmetto Bluff and Esperanza Resort. Lance’s private residence club experience involves serving as the residence club administrator for Esperanza, director of operations for Calistoga Ranch, director of operations for CordeValle and general manager of One Steamboat Place. Thompson’s previous properties include the Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara as well as Bernardus Lodge and The Lodge at Pebble Beach on the Monterey Peninsula. Lance’s passion for hospitality began at an early age as a caddy in his home town of Carmel, California. He studied hotel administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Matt Train, TranslateMedia
Matt is operations director at TranslateMedia, an award-winning translation and content localisation company with offices in New York, London, Paris, Munich and Hong Kong. Matt is experienced in managing content localization for global brands via clients at marketing and advertising agencies, law firms, financial services providers, on and offline retailers, and engineering firms. Matt has detailed knowledge of the latest translation technologies and is a qualified Spanish and Portuguese translator.
Adam Wegner, Exclusive Resorts
Adam is senior vice president, corporate development and general counsel at Exclusive Resorts. He joined the company in 2005 and is responsible for strategic growth initiatives. In his role as general counsel, he is also responsible for all legal, regulatory, compliance and corporate governance functions of the company. Previously, Adam served as the executive vice president and general counsel of Exodus Communications and practiced corporate law in Silicon Valley and Washington, D.C. He received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
Sean Zimmerman, SIA Living
Sean has a diverse background in international real estate including site acquisition, pre-development planning, feasibility analysis, product development and sales and marketing. He began his career as a Fortune 100 management consultant with BearingPoint Inc. His work with BearingPoint included advisory roles with Apple Computers and Wal-Mart. Sean founded SIA Living, an international resort real estate development advisory firm, in 2005 and has participated in the pre-development planning, sales and marketing of nearly $1 billion in resort real estate. He brings a unique experience and ability to enhance and deliver communities that exceed ever-changing consumer demands.
